INTRODUCTION
The energy industry transition is well underway, but integrated energy companies must continue to develop exploration and production (E&P) projects effectively to generate the cash flow needed to enable the energy transition and meet energy demands for years to come. The Upstream Project Analyst role focusses on analysing traditional E&P projects and other new energy projects such as carbon capture and storage. KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gather technical energy project data (predominantly reservoir, facilities, and wells) through client interactions, identifying and evaluating areas of risk
- Undertake statistical analysis using IPA’s databases to quantify findings
- Write comprehensive reports offering insight and recommendations for clients
- Deliver presentations (virtual or in-person) for technical and business audiences
- Collaborate with capital project teams and organisations to improve project/system competitiveness
- Research project success and failure drivers using statistical methods and IPA’s database
- Regular international travel to clients and other IPA offices
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or master’s (preferred) degree or equivalent in natural sciences, geoscience, reservoir engineering, facilities engineering, drilling/completions engineering, or other relevant technical discipline
- Relevant industry experience is advantageous, preferably in an integrated energy company, service provider, or consultancy
- Proven record of carrying out independent research, preferably as part of a recent relevant role
- Experience in manipulating and analysing data
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALITIES
- Demonstrable superior English language written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to successfully liaise with people from different cultures
- Excellent listening, presentation, and report writing skills with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrable critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and adaptability
- Proven ability to work effectively independently and meet deadlines
- Languages would be advantageous but not essential
